Notes and tips
Highlighting pieces of information like this can help cooks decide if they want to try a recipe out.
Servings calculator and unit converter
Having a calculator and converter built-in saves cooks the trouble of leaving the page to perform calculations manually.
Ingredient substitutions
It's common not to have all the listed ingredients or to want to try diet-friendly versions. Suggested substitutions helps to reduce the obstacles between a cook and a recipe.
Recipe overview
Having an overview is like having a contents page—it helps cooks know what to expect and where to look for the information they want.
Focused steps
A clear step has a header, one set of actions, and visuals to guide the cook in knowing when to move on.

Of course, recipes shouldn't be rigidly templatised because each type of recipe requires unique accommodations. I will continue working with creators to refine the design, ensuring they are truly fit for their intended purposes.
Recipe Design
This design has been developed after numerous sessions of user testing, and will continue to evolve. It's intentionally simple and not meant to be novel; instead, its purpose is to provide information precisely where it's needed.
My goal with Specs is to make a small part of the internet a better-designed place for creators and their audience.
